1940's Jantzen Red Rayon Hawaiian Shirt

270.00

Red button down collared Hawaiian shirt. Buttons down the front with 4 buttons as well as an additional button under the collar. Breast pocket on the front left hand side. All over blue green yellow floral print. Hand sewn. Restitched in a few places as a result of the age. Jantzen began as a producer of knitwear. As members of the Portland Rowing Team the founders of the company were the obvious choice to produce rowing suits the team would need for keeping warm on the river. This led to the production of the first swimsuits as opposed to bathing suits. Knit pieces that were lighter weight so that to allow for easy movement as opposed to warmth. In the 1940's Jantzen added other apparel such as sweaters and activewear to their collection, hence the production of a piece such as this Hawaiian shirt.
